Coby TF-TV1511 15 inch LCD TV user reviews
If it worked.
I took it out of the box to find that it will only respond to my commands (remote, or physical buttons) when IT wants to. It will just freeze-up in whatever mode it is in. (ie: off, on, loud, mute, or input mode)
There is no reason i can see this happening except a defective unit. HOWEVER, since i cannot accurately review the product, (because i don't have one that works) I am instead going to review the company's customer service..
Do not ever expect to recieve ANY response from Coby. They DO NOT have ANY contact phone numbers. The only correspondence they allow you to have with them is via email. To which they do not reply.
I have sent 10 emails in the past 2 months with no response.
So, if your product arrives in good condition, you're in luck. If not, you're sh** out of luck! "
The Coby has a multitude of inputs (component, composite, VGA, HDMI, etc), a nice screen, side mount controls, standard VESA wall mount holes as well as the installed table base. The front firing speakers are what you'd expect from a $150 TV, and volume is low. I usually use the headphone connector when running and watching, though it is mounted on the rear and difficult to access if you want to use it when the TV is wall mounted as mine is. The video menu has 4:3, 16:9, zoom and "normal" - depending on what you are watching, but it does not "auto-sense", so expect to have to set this to get things in the proper aspect.
It seems to pick up interference from my treadmill, but I suspect an AC line filter will fix that. The menus are thorough, but difficult to navigate with the side mounted controls and I have not used the remote. Overall, I'd say this is a nice TV for close viewing and limited space areas and would recommend it. Be aware, you get what you pay for... Don't expect a smaller version of a $1500 Sony, expect a $150 Coby and I don't feel you'll be disappointed
"
Another advantage for me - the 4:3 aspect ratio since this is most what I watch and would otherwise hate those black bars on the sides." "
